Clinical Overview

SmartCord 2‑X is a thick, knitted retraction cord made from 100 % natural cotton and pre‑impregnated with Aluminum Chloride Hexahydrate (ACH) at approximately 1.2 ± 0.8 mg per inch. It delivers atraumatic sulcular displacement and clinically effective hemostasis—without epinephrine—for use before impressions, cementation, or restorations. Size #2 is color‑coded green for easy selection.

Indications

• Temporary sulcular displacement for conventional or digital impression procedures
• Cementation and margin exposure during crown, bridge, veneer, or adhesive restoration work

• Particularly useful for patients where epinephrine is contraindicated or unnecessary

Instructions for Use

1. Assess gingival sulcus anatomy and isolate as needed.
2. Use the printed SmartRuler™ to measure and cut the correct length with the integrated EasyCut™ zirconia blade.
3. Optionally moisten cord with topical hemostatic solution; otherwise proceed as is.
4. Gently pack cord into the sulcus using a blunt cord-packing instrument without excessive pressure.
5. Leave in place for approximately 1–2 minutes to achieve tissue displacement and hemostasis.
6. Remove cord slowly and rinse thoroughly before taking impressions or proceeding with cementation.
