DermaDam Medium, 0.20mm, (15x15)cm, Refill

Clinical Overview
DermaDam™ Medium is a non‑powdered, natural latex rubber dental dam, offered in a 36‑sheet refill pack (6″ × 6″; 15 × 15 cm) with a uniform 0.20 mm thickness. Manufactured by Ultradent for professional restorative isolation, it combines structural strength with superior biocompatibility, minimizing latex protein exposure. (Item 311 in Ultradent’s 2022 Access & Isolation lineup.)
Key Benefits
- Optimal thickness for most restorative cases: At 0.20 mm, this medium-density dam resists tearing yet stretches over tight contacts without shredding or overstretching. Suitable for both anterior and posterior teeth.
- Low latex allergy risk: Powder‑free formulation reduces surface protein content, thereby lowering dermal and hypersensitivity reactions while maintaining natural elasticity.
- High tensile strength: Provides reliable tear-resistance and durability during clamp placement and multiple attempts at inversion—even in challenging isolation setups.
- Consistent sheet size: 15 × 15 cm dimensions support quadrants or segmented isolation without excess trimming or waste.
- Pack size saves time: Refill box contains 36 single-use sheets, pre-cut and ready to use in high-volume practices.
- Tactile visibility: Available in standard clinical colors that enhance contrast between teeth, soft tissues, and restorative preparations. (Select your local-color preference.)

- Minimizes bacterial contamination and enhances visual contrast under comment magnification
Instructions for Use
- Select a pre‑cut DermaDam sheet and orient so the dull side faces the occlusal surface.
- Punch holes according to the teeth to be isolated (usually 3–5 mm apart), reserving the largest perforation for the clamped tooth (often 1st molar).
- Seat the relevant clamp onto the abutment tooth (preferably outside the mouth), then stretch the dam over the clamp and adjacent teeth using floss to pass under contacts.
- Use an inversion tool (plasty or explorer) and air‐water spray or floss ligatures to gently tuck dam edges into the gingival sulcus for a seal.
- Frame the dam using a rigid (plastic or metal) dam frame to maintain tension, keeping the sheet taut yet comfortable.
- At procedure end, release the dam by cutting interseptal sections, then remove clamp and dam carefully.
- Dispose of used sheet and sanitize retainer and frame per infection-control protocol.
