Clinical Overview

Ultrapak™ is a knitted, 100 % cotton gingival retraction cord woven into thousands of interlocking loops. Upon placement, it compresses and then gently expands to maintain continuous outward pressure and optimize tissue displacement. Size #2 is considered a medium option—ideal as the second cord in double-cord techniques or as a pre-preparation cord in both anterior and posterior restorative workflows.

Application Protocol & Timing

1. Use built‑in blade and cap ruler to cut desired length.
2. Optionally soak cord in a bonding‑compatible hemostatic agent (e.g. ViscoStat®, aluminum chloride, chlorhexidine).
3. Gently pack cord into the sulcus with a slim packing instrument until compression is evident.
4. Leave cord in place for ~3–8 minutes (typically ~5 minutes) for optimal tissue displacement.
5. Remove cord carefully, rinse and dry the field; confirm margin exposure and hemostasis.
6. Proceed with impression, bonding, or restorative workflow on a clean, accessible field.

Instructions for Use

1. Determine required cord length; cut using the CleanCut cap blade and measure via the ruler.
2. Optional: moisten with compatible hemostatic solution.
3. Pack cord gently into sulcus with a thin packing instrument until compression is felt.
4. Allow cord to remain in place for ~5 minutes for expansion and tissue displacement.
5. Remove cord carefully, rinse, dry, and confirm hemostasis and margin visibility.
6. Continue promptly with impression, adhesive application, or restoration placement.
