Clinical Overview

Ultradent™ Porcelain Silane is a one‑component coupling agent formulated to enhance adhesion between etched silica‑based ceramics (such as feldspathic porcelain and lithium disilicate) and resin cements or composite materials. When used in combination with buffered hydrofluoric acid porcelain etch, it delivers among the highest porcelain‑to‑resin bond strengths reported in the literature.

Kit Contents

• 2 × 1.2 mL syringes of Ultradent Porcelain Silane solution (~0.96 g each)

Application Protocol

• Etch first: Perform 90‑second porcelain etch using buffered hydrofluoric acid, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
• Remove etch residues: Optionally rinse with Ultra‑Etch™ phosphoric acid for ~5 seconds to eliminate precipitates, then dry.
• Silane application: Brush-spray a thin puddle of silane over etched surface and allow to dwell for 60 seconds—do not rinse.
• Dry surface: Air-dry gently to evaporate solvent before applying bonding resin or luting cement.

Indications

• Bonding resin cements to etched silica‑based ceramic restorations (veneers, crowns, inlays/onlays, bridges)
• Repair of fractured porcelain, porcelain‑to‑porcelain, porcelain‑to‑metal, or repair of lithium disilicate surfaces.
• Use in conjunction with Ultradent Porcelain Etch (Ref. 406) for optimal adhesion protocols.

Instructions for Use

1. Confirm porcelain surface is cleaned and thoroughly etched per protocol.
2. Attach a Black Mini™ brush tip; dispense silane solution to cover the treated area evenly.
3. Allow surface to dwell wet for 60 seconds without rinsing.
4. Air-dry with oil-free airflow until dry and tack-free.
5. Proceed immediately with resin cement or bonding resin application.
