Clinical Overview

Silane is a single-component coupling agent formulated to be used immediately after porcelain etching (e.g. with Porcelain Etch) to maximize porcelain‑to‑resin bond strengths. The formulation is designed for precise, stain‑free application and may be used intra‑orally or extra‑orally on silica‑based ceramics (e.g. porcelain, lithium disilicate), but is not indicated for zirconia.

Application & Handling

• Preparation: Use immediately after porcelain etching (60 sec hydrofluoric acid), rinse and dry thoroughly. Then apply Silane.
• Application: Apply Silane evenly over etched ceramic surface using a fine brush tip; allow to dwell for ~60 seconds.
• Air-dry: Gently dry surface with oil‑free air; do not rinse before applying adhesive or resin cement.

Indications

• Bonding resin cement or composite to etched porcelain, ceramic, or lithium disilicate restorations
• Intra‑oral or extra‑oral repair or cementation of silica‑based prosthetics
• Not indicated for use on zirconia or metal surfaces

Instructions for Use

1. Prepare porcelain or lithium disilicate surface by etching with Porcelain Etch (hydrofluoric acid) for recommended time.
2. Rinse thoroughly and dry surface completely.
3. Attach a Black Mini™ Brush tip and express a sufficient amount of Silane onto a mixing pad or directly onto the restoration.
4. Brush Silane evenly across entire etched surface; allow to dwell for 60 seconds.
5. Gently air-dry surface with oil‑free air; do not rinse.
6. Proceed with bonding resin or cement placement per manufacturer protocols.
