Clinical Overview

UltraCal™ XS is a high‑pH (≈12.5), aqueous calcium hydroxide paste formulated at 30–35% concentration. It is radiopaque and presented in prefilled syringes to allow controlled, direct intracanal placement—ideal as an interappointment medicament for root canal therapy, apexification, perforation repair, and pulp capping.

Working Characteristics

• Placement: Use larger 29 ga NaviTip™ Single Sideport tip for predictable delivery—even into curved canals.
• Residence time: Leave in canal for interappointment periods (commonly 1–2 weeks) to allow calcium diffusion and antimicrobial action.
• Removal: Flush with Ultradent 20% Citric Acid and a NaviTip FX tip—ultralow residue removal within seconds.

Indications

• Interappointment intracanal dressing in multi-visit root canal treatment
• Pulp capping in deep cavities or after pulpotomy
• Apexification and management of immature apices

Instructions for Use

1. Complete canal shaping and irrigation (e.g. NaOCl), then dry canal.
2. Attach a 29 ga NaviTip™ Single Sideport tip to the syringe.
3. Deliver UltraCal™ XS into canal—ensure full length placement with accessory tip.
4. Allow medication to remain in canal for intervisit period (commonly 1–2 weeks).
5. Prior to obturation, remove paste by flushing canal with Ultradent 20% Citric Acid using NaviTip FX tip. Then rinse thoroughly with saline or distilled water.
6. Dry canal and proceed with obturation protocol.
