Porcelain Etch Kit, 90 Second, 9% Hydrofluoric Acid

Clinical Overview
Ultradent Porcelain Etch is a buffered, gelled 9% hydrofluoric acid etchant formulated for efficient conditioning of fractured or intact silica-based ceramic restorations—including veneers, crowns, bridges, inlays, and onlays—in just 90 seconds. Its viscous, yellow-tinted formulation provides precise placement and visible control, and it does not stain composite or resin cement.
Key Benefits
- Efficient 90‑second etch: Produces ideal surface micro-roughness for bonding in under two minutes.
- Buffered hydrofluoric gel: Minimizes vapor irritation; maintains precise adhesion without drip.
- High visibility gel: Yellow tint helps clinician accurately place and limit contact.
- Compatible with silane bonding: When combined with Ultradent Silane, yields among the highest porcelain‑to‑resin bond strengths.
- No staining risk: Safe for use on restorations without discoloring cements or composites.
- Gluten‑free certification: Safe for patients with dietary sensitivities.
Kit Contents
- 2 × 1.2 mL syringes of Porcelain Etch gel (≈1.3 g each)
- 2 × 1.2 mL syringes of Silane coupling agent (for surface priming post‑etch)
- 20 × Black Mini Brush tips and 20 × Inspiral Brush tips for etch and silane application
- Instructions for use leaflet
Working & Setting Times
- Etch time: 90 seconds on porcelain or silica-based surfaces
- Rinse and dry: Thorough rinsing following etching removes acid residues and prepared salts
- Silane dwell time: Apply Silane to etched surface and allow to react for 60 seconds. Do not rinse before bonding resin application
Indications
- Etching of porcelain-based restorations prior to adhesive resin bonding
- Preparation of fractured or chipped porcelain surfaces for chairside repairs
- Bonding orthodontic brackets onto porcelain crowns or veneers
- Use intra‑orally or extra‑orally with appropriate isolation (e.g. rubber dam, EtchArrest) to protect tissues
Instructions for Use
- Isolate the operative area thoroughly with rubber dam or EtchArrest barrier.
- Apply Porcelain Etch gel using Inspiral Brush tip, gently painting over porcelain surface only.
- Allow etchant to remain in contact for exactly 90 seconds.
- Rinse thoroughly with water to remove all acid residues and etched debris; dry surface completely.
- Optional: apply 5 seconds of Ultra‑Etch phosphoric acid to remove residual salts, rinse and dry.
- Attach Black Mini Brush tip and apply Silane to etched surface; allow to dwell for 60 seconds, then gently air‑dry—do not rinse.
- Proceed immediately with adhesive resin cement per manufacturer protocol.
- Discard single-use tips and acid contact surfaces as per safety protocols. Wear appropriate PPE.
